  1. Name two methods of birth control.

Answer: There are a myriad of answers for this one — the pill, patch, ring, IUD, and the implant are some effective forms of contraception! Others include the shot, the diaphragm, and sterilization. At Pandia Health we provide FREE delivery of the birth control pill, patch, and ring! We carry ALL generic and name brand birth control.

  1. How many days after a contraceptive failure can emergency contraception be used?

Answer: 5 days. It’s best to take EC as soon as possible after having sex; with each passing day, the effectiveness decreases. If you want to prevent pregnancy but continue having sex, sign up for Pandia and get on that birth control bandwagon! Want to learn more about Emergency Contraception and how it works? Check out our blog piece here!

  1. If you are on the birth control pill or ring, is it safe to skip your periods?

Answer: Yes! Check out Pandia’s #Periodsoptional campaign to learn more about how to safely and effectively turn off your cycle when you’re on birth control! As women we can save time, money, and resources by skipping our periods using birth control. If you are on the pill, skip the last week of pills (the placebo week), and continue onto your next pack of pills. For the ring, instead of removing your ring and having your period, remove your ring and insert your next ring immediately after! Learn more by checking out the “Science Behind Why It’s SAFE to Skip Your Periods.

  1. What is the difference between generic and name brand?

Answer: There are ideas floating around out there that there is a big difference between name brand and generic contraception. In reality, they’re pretty much the same and the major difference is that the generic brand is cheaper; if you’re trying to save money, get the generic brand because the effectiveness is the same without the high cost! Dr. Sophia Yen also discusses the difference of generic and name brand birth control on our Instagram, check it out!

  1. If I’m on birth control, do I still need to wear a condom?

Answer: Yes! It’s wise to always wear a condom no matter what to protect against STIs and because no birth control is 100% effective condoms add another layer of protection against pregnancy. If you are not using a condom, it is important to get checked. Click here to learn more about getting tested for STIs.

  1. What hormones are present in birth control?

Answer: Estrogen and progesterone. For contraceptive methods that have estrogen in them, you’ll likely still get your period but for forms with progesterone, you’ll probably lose your period although you might experience spotting in the beginning. Pandia recommends using monophasic birth control pills because they have the same doses of hormones in each pill while triphasic have 3 different doses of hormones and change every week. Some birth control options have progesterone only in them (i.e. PoPs/minipills).
